  • The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) invites district superintendents to nominate outstanding K–12 educators to serve on the ND Social Studies Content Standards Writing Committee. Each district or private school may nominate one teacher per 1,000 enrolled students. Districts with 3,000+ students need to nominate at least one teacher per grade level (ES, MS, HS) to ensure all levels are represented.Nominations are due February 6, 2026.

    The writing committee must include representation from all levels - elementary (K-5), middle school (6-8), and high school (9-12). The middle school nominees will need to represent courses taught in middle school (e.g., Ancient Civilizations, World History, World Geography, U.S. History, North Dakota Studies), and the high school nominees will need to represent high school courses (e.g., U.S. History, World History, U.S. Civics and Government/Problems of Democracy, Economics, Geography, North Dakota Studies, Psychology, Sociology). This committee needs to represent various sizes of districts and the different geographic areas of the state.
